開催国カナダにとって2017年は建国から150年、万国博覧会開催から50年、モントリオール市として375年目の記念の年となりました。以下に概要を報告いたします。

ITS America暫定CEOのDavid St. Amantの進行で執り行われたでは開会式では、組織委員長のClaude Caretteによる開会宣言に続き、ITS America会長Chris Murrayによって元コロラド州DOT エグゼクティブディレクターShailen BhattがITS America新CEOとして紹介されました。引き続きITS Canada、モントリオール市、米国・カナダ/欧州/アジア太平洋(AP)からの代表が歓迎のあいさつを行いました。APを代表して警察庁の長谷川 豊 長官官房審議官よりご挨拶いただきました。最後はHall of Fame（功労者表彰）授与式で開会式をしめくくりました。

会議期間中の様々な出来事を映像で振り返ったあと、組織委員長Claude Caretteが、本会議の成功に寄与した各方面の関係者に謝意を表しました。さらにモントリオール市のAref Salemによる謝意に続いて、David St. Amantの司会でニューカッスル大学のEric Sampson教授がチーフラポチャとして、テーマごとに主にセッションで議論された注目されるテーマを紹介し、規模は最大ではないものの非常に首尾良く仕上がったITS世界会議であったと成功を祝しました。
つづいて今回の国際プログラム委員長であったSouthwest Research InstituteのSteven Dellenbackにより、優秀論文賞の受賞者が発表され（写真はP8を参照）、2019年Singapore大会と2018年Copenhagen大会をそれぞれITS SingaporeプレジデントのAndrew ChowとCopenhagen市技術環境担当市長のMorten Kabellが紹介しました。
