(Date: 24 November 2009)

ITS Japan took the opportunity of the Malaysia-Japan ITS Seminar in Kuala Lumpur organized by the Ministry of Works of Malaysia and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan to strengthen its relationship with ITS Malaysia through updating and signing a Memorandum of Understanding on24 November 2009.

This is the second generation MoU since the first one was signed by the former organization of ITS Malaysia, “REAM (Road Engineering Association of Malaysia)”, and the former organization of ITS Japan, “VERTIS” in 1998. On this occasion, another ceremony was held to interchange the commemorative gifts between Y.B. Dato’ Yong Khoon Sen, Deputy Minister of Works Malaysia and Mr. Masahiko Horie, the Japanese Ambassador of Malaysia.

The signers of the new MoU are Mr. Lee Choo Boo, Deputy President of ITS Malaysia and Mr. Hajime Amano, the President of ITS Japan, and this provides for the exchange of information between the two associations and their members, and will enable both organizations to act as an interface agency for ITS issues among the various ITS stakeholders on the both sides.

The close relationship between ITS Japan and ITS Malaysia will be expected in the 17th Busan World Congress in October 2010 in Korea.
